I thought Cerrutti was a great proffessor, he made himself more than available for help and was very flexible on due dates for assignments. The class was very relaxed, he lectured from powerpoint, no book to read. Quizzes every class but if you go over slides you'll be fine. The final is based on quiz material and slides very specific. A lot of extra credit available. Overall, great Professor.
I had him again for this quarter. Same class structure. 13 quizzes, but he only grades the top 10 quizzes you have. There was only one paper and one final exam. The final consisted of 50 previous seen questions from the quizzes and the other 50 questions were materials that were presented from the last 2-3 weeks of class. He has a sense of humor and lectures quite straight-forward and a bit from the book.
I found his lectures to be a bit boring because he doesn't really speak with a loud voice. There are quizzes pretty much every class, but all you have to do is make sure you go over the powerpoint lectures everyday, read the book, and go over previous old quizzes that he posts on blackboard and you will do fine. No midterm because he gives out quizzes instead. Although the quizzes were a bit tedious, they definitely kept you on your toes about his class. His final is 100 multiple questions, but 50 of them are all from the quizzes you took during class. He doesn't really get back to you if you e-mail him, so my best advice to you if you have a question to ask him, is to ask after class or visit office hours.
This class started off with a WTF moment like this is too hard! But the class structure makes you read AND actually understand the material. There are 7 quizzes (one each week) with 20 Qs and a final with 100 Qs. This determines your grade. These quizzes were initally tough but then you get used to his wording. I thought Cerutti was great and some (many) complained he was too hard or he worded his questions too abstractly. I thought he softened up towards the end and that made the class easier, those people in there were bogging him down. His last quizzes of the quarter ended up being word-for-word repeats of previous quiz Qs. And his final is 80% review material. Very informative and at time challenging info, I like Cerutti a bunch, he was my kind of Professor. Attendance not required, book highly recommended and actual comprehension. |
