Middlebury School in Uruguay

Montevideo, home to more than half of Uruguays population, is a vibrant capital city known for its rich cultural heritage and relaxed coastal atmosphere. The city offers an array of museums, theaters, cinemas, historic landmarks, and lively cultural events. From the charming streets of the Ciudad Vieja to its expansive beaches along the Ro de la Plata, Montevideo provides an engaging and welcoming environment for students.

Students study alongside Uruguayan peers at one of three local universities. They may choose from a broad range of courses in the humanities, sciences, and social sciences, while experiencing Uruguays academic and cultural life.

In addition to traditional coursework, students can pursue specialized tracks in Architectural Studies or the Arts. All participants complete a writing course designed specifically for the program, and many enhance their experience through internships and other forms of experiential learning.

Students live with host families, providing daily opportunities to practice Spanish, build meaningful relationships, and develop a deeper understanding of Uruguayan culture and society.
