Middlebury School in Jordan
Founded thousands of years ago, Amman is one of the worlds oldest continuously inhabited cities. Jordans capital and largest city, it is built among seven hills, or jabals, and reflects the influence of civilizations that have shaped the region, including the Ammonites, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, and Umayyad Arabs.
Today, Amman is a dynamic modern city where ancient history meets contemporary culture. Home to archaeological sites, museums, art galleries, and a thriving commercial center, it is also known for its multicultural character and longstanding tradition of welcoming communities from across the region.
The program is based at the University of Jordan, founded in 1962 as the countrys first public four-year institution of higher education. Through academic coursework, extracurricular activities with local students, internships, and volunteer opportunities, participants are encouraged to live the language while developing their Arabic skills and gaining a deeper understanding of Jordanian society and culture.
